First Lego League Junior

An Exciting Challenge for Curious and Motivated Children

The First Lego League (FLL) is an international robotics competition that combines technical challenges, teamwork, and creativity. Every year, thousands of young people from over 110 countries—including Belgium—take on a double mission: to program an autonomous robot and to develop an original research project based on the season’s theme.

A Captivating Theme and a Project Built from the Ground Up

For the 2025–2026 season, the theme Unearthed invites teams to explore archaeological treasures hidden beneath our feet. Participants will identify a real-world problem, come up with an innovative solution, and present it in a creative and compelling way. They can impress the jury with prototypes, costumes, expert interviews, and more—anything goes!
Last year, our team won a 🏆 trophy for their innovative idea: recycling ghost nets from the ocean floor… into LEGO bricks! 😀

A Robot to Build, Test, and Optimize

At the same time, participants will build and program a robot capable of completing a series of missions in a (very) limited amount of time. It’s a matter of precision, strategy, and perseverance – trial and error is key to success.

More Than Just Robotics: A Launchpad for the Future

Beyond technical skills, participants gain valuable experience in advanced programming, communication, teamwork, project management, and outreach. The adventure begins with the regional competition in Ciney, with the goal of reaching the national finals—and maybe even going international!

Additional Information:

📖 No prior experience is required to join the FLL workshops. However, the pace is more intense than in our Tech Mix workshops, as we aim to take the team as far as possible in the competition. Strong motivation and a collaborative mindset are essential.

📅 In addition to the regular Sunday practices, there will be a final session on Friday, January 9, 2026.

🕒 The regional competition is scheduled for January 10, 2026, in Ciney and lasts the entire day. Attendance is mandatory for all team members, so be sure to save the date!
If the team qualifies, we will move on to the national final in March 2026, somewhere in Belgium. The national final is the gateway to the FLL international competitions!

🧠 Whether or not we advance to the next competition levels, the workshops will continue until the end of the school year. It’s a great opportunity to keep learning, prepare for the next season, and most importantly—keep having fun with our robots and awesome machines!
